At the reception, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh expressed his delight at the positive development of the relationship between Vietnam and the Vatican in recent years; At the same time, he wishes to contribute to enhancing and meeting the common interests of the two sides as well as the interests of the Catholic Community of Vietnam through visits and contacts of senior leaders, meetings of the Joint Working Group, and meetings of the Vietnamese Catholic Community, Vietnam-Vatican Union.

Thanks to the welcome of the leaders of the Government of Vietnam, Monsignor Miroslaw Wachowski wishes the relationship between Vietnam and the Holy See to develop more and more, creating conditions for the Catholic Community of Vietnam to actively contribute to the development of the country. The Monsignor emphasized that Pope Francis and the Holy See always want between the two countries to have an increasingly good and comprehensive relationship in the coming time and maintain the existing consultation mechanisms.

Also at the meeting, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh hoped that the Holy See would continue to pay attention and guide the Vietnamese Catholic community to stick with and accompany the nation, respect the law, and contribute to raising the image of the Vietnamese Catholic community, virtues of Catholicism in Vietnam and promote the growing relationship between Vietnam and the Vatican.

At the 9th meeting of the Vietnam – Vatican Joint Working Group, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc reported on the socio-economic situation of Vietnam, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. has been controlled, the macro-economy is stable, people’s lives are guaranteed, including the contribution of Catholic compatriots. At the same time, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc expressed his gratitude to Pope Francis’ decision to support 100,000 euros for the Catholic community in Vietnam during the complicated development of the epidemic (August 2021); highly appreciated the support of the Vietnamese Catholic Church for the “Vaccine Fund” and the frontline participation in the fight against the epidemic of priests, monks, and lay people in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Recalling the Pope’s teaching to the Vietnamese Catholic Church to “live the Gospel in the heart of the nation”, “good laity must be good citizens”, Vatican Deputy Foreign Minister Miroslaw Wachowski expressed his joy for the first time. First to visit Vietnam and thank the Government of Vietnam for always caring and facilitating religious practice, organizing religious events of the Vietnamese Catholic Church community.

Within the framework of the IX round meeting, the two sides exchanged contents related to the draft Regulation on the operation of the Permanent Envoy and the Office of the Resident Special Envoy of the Vatican in Vietnam, in line with the roadmap. the process of upgrading relations between Vietnam and the Holy See; agreed to continue maintaining regular exchanges and contacts at all levels in order to promote relations between Vietnam and the Vatican on the basis of cooperation, dialogue and mutual respect. The study left a good impression on the relationship between Vietnam and the Vatican
